This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the following items of the bar code symbol for marking the uniform commodity code (single article identification) for source marking utilized in distribution information systems centered on the POS (point of sale) system. (1) The method for indication of the uniform commodity code by the corresponding bar code symbol. (2) The optical and dimensional characteristics of the printed bar code symbol.
