This Standard specifies method of hardness test in weld heat-affected zone of a steel by means of taper test specimen deposited on by arc welding and of obtaining relationship between cooling time from 800centigrade degrees to 500centigrade degrees and maximum hardness, hereinafter referred to as the \"taper hardness test\".
