On occasion, software in switching systems must be patched in order to assure that appropriate service and functionality is continued in the face of problems experienced during product operation. However, a patch itself may prove to be defective when deployed. Thus, towards the goal of improving the quality of paches delivered to a BCC, this document provides Bellcore's preliminary view of proposed enhanced patch generic requirements.
