Updates Bellcore's preliminary view of the proposed generic requirements and objectives of the Transmission section of the LSSGR. The focus has been changed from switches for analog networks to digital switches for Public Switched Telecommunications Networks (PSTNs). Text, tables and figures have been revised to emphasize material applicable to a digital PSTN and to be consistent with American National Standard T1.508-1992.
