RACKING STRENGTH OF STRUCTURAL INSULATING BOARD
01-12-2013
07-23-2013
Measures the resistance of panels having a standard wood frame and sheathed with structural insulating board to a racking load such as would be imposed by winds blowing on a wall oriented at 90 deg to the panel. Intended to make available a reliable uniform procedure for determining the resistance to racking load provided by the board. Since a standard frame is employed, the relative performance of the board is the test objective. Test conducted with standardized framing, loading procedures, and with a standardized method of measuring deflection to insure reproducibility. Provision is made for following the manufacturer's recommendations for attaching the board to the frame and for reporting the behavior of the specimen over its entire range of use.
