This document provides a guide to the features and typical characteristics that are expected of a latex stain sealer when used to seal back non-water-soluble oil, tar and bitumen stains on timber, concrete and masonry prior to repainting. Products covered by this guide are classified as paint Type 30 of AS 2311.NOTE: Latex stain sealer characterized by this guide is intended for use over non-water-soluble stains. Water-soluble stains will bleed through this type of sealer and are best sealed with the solvent-borne sealers characterized in AS 3730.22.
