1.1This specification covers minimum requirements for primary aircraft structures critical to the safety of flight and is applicable to aircraft capable of wing-borne flight, semi-thrust-borne flight, thrust-borne flight or autorotation-borne flight. Specifically, this version of the specification is focused on airplanes, helicopters, gyroplanes, gliders and powered lift types. Many of the requirements specified likely apply to other aircraft types as well, but the applicability to other types shall be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Note 1:The subcommittee is actively developing this specification so that future versions apply to a wider range of aircraft types and capabilities.
