This document applies to thebasic safetyandessential performanceofventilatory support equipment, as defined in201.3.205, forventilatory impairment, as defined in201.3.202, hereafter also referred to asme equipment, in combination with itsaccessories: —intended for use in thehome healthcare environment; —intended for use by alay operator; and —intended for use withpatientswho haveventilatory impairment, the most fragile of thesepatients, would not likely experience injury with the loss of this artificial ventilation; and —not intended forpatientswho are dependent on artificial ventilation for their immediate life support.
