Scope This document establishes requirements and makes recommendations for the design, materials, construction, testing, operation, maintenance and abandonment of piping systems used for transportation purposes in the petroleum and natural gas industries. It applies to onshore and offshore piping systems, connection wells, production plants, processing plants, refineries and storage facilities, as well as any part of the pipe built within the precinct. such facilities for connection purposes. It does not cover flexible pipes or pipes made from other materials such as glass-reinforced plastic. This document applies to all new piping systems and may also apply to changes to existing systems. It is not intended to apply retroactively to existing pipe systems. This document describes the functional requirements of the pipe systems and establishes fundamental principles for design, construction, testing, operation, maintenance and abandonment safety.
