Bellcore's view of proposed generic requirements for supporting SONET NE management functions at the OS/NE interface in an OSI communications environment. The NE management functions covered in the document include transport memory administration, alarm surveillance, protection switching and transmission performance monitoring. these functions appear in the form of a generic SONET NE model which defines the characteristics of network resources, as well as the information that is conveyed between NEs and OSs. This information is expressed using ISO GDMO templates. The information model described in this document is derived from a generic model documented in TR-NWT-000836, Issue 1, (a module of OTGR, FR-NWT-000439). Accompanying the document will be a diskette containing the information model templates
