Gives general criteria regarding performance for binnacles, magnetic compasses and azimuth reading devices, class A. Two types of binnacle are specified, according to the design of the ship. Applicable to liquid-filled magnetic compasses intended for sea navigation (according to regulations in force); having a direct reading system; which may be of the projecting, reflecting or transmitting types. Does not apply to dry card compasses or types of compass designed on principles different from those stated, or not complying with the descriptions given.
