About the Decorative Hardwoods Association

The Decorative Hardwoods Association (DHA), formerly known as the Hardwood Plywood Veneer Association (HPVA), is an industry group that represents and supports hardwood businesses in North America. This includes enterprises within the hardwood plywood, hardwood veneer and engineered hardwood flooring industries. DHA’s services to the industry include advocacy, networking events, education and technical support. 

 

As part of its educational services, the Association runs courses and produces a range of published resources. These include handbooks and industry Standards on a range of topics relevant to the decorative hardwood industry.

The DHA, formerly known as the Hardwood Plywood Veneer Association, is an industry group representing the North American decorative hardwoods industry. It is dedicated to the highest quality in materials and craftsmanship and is committed to environmental sustainability. The Association has a mission to provide manufacturers, distributors and suppliers within the industry the information and resources they need for making informed decisions in running their enterprises.

Services to its members include advocacy, technical support, networking events, regular newsletters, testing and certification, and educational services. Its education services include the publishing of handbooks, guides and industry Standards on a range of topics including engineered wood flooring, decorative plywood, materials procurement and design Standards. The DHA also runs online courses throughout the year at no charge to its members.

The organisation was formed in 1921 as the Hardwood Plywood Veneer Association or HPVA. Operating from Sterling Virginia, it changed its name from the HPVA to the DHA in 2018. As a not-for-profit association, the DHA provides a collective voice for the decorative hardwood industry and is run by elected board of directors.
