This document was prepared to systematically review the factors that can lead to uncertainty in groundwater quality data. The distribution of contaminants in hydrogeologic regimes was identified as a potential source of uncertainty, and the physical and chemical controls on contaminant migration processes are discussed with respect to their effect on the interpretation of groundwater quality data.
