This specification applies to shunt diode safety barriers for use between non-intrinsically safe electrical apparatus normally located in a non-hazardous area and intrinsically safe electrical apparatus located in an area where a hazard may arise from the presence of flammable vapours or gases in the atmosphere. The specification prescribes the design, constructional and test requirements for these devices.
