Waterproofing of domestic wet areas
AS 3740:2021 sets out requirements for how buildings should be waterproofed. The Standard focuses on wet areas: spaces exposed to higher moisture levels, such as bathrooms and kitchens. AS 3740:2021 provides guidelines for builders, contractors, designers, plumbers, and inspectors on the correct materials to use and best practices to implement for waterproofing.
The Standard applies to waterproofing in domestic wet areas for a range of buildings covered in the National Construction Code (NCC) in Australia. These include but are not limited to those in Class 1, Class 2, and Class 4.
