This Standard sets out the installation procedures for a pliable building membrane (also known as underlay) in any of the following circumstances:(a) When it is intended to act as a sarking membrane or thermal insulation or a vapour barrier when installed in a building structure.(b) When installed either independently, or as a facing to other materials such as insulation materials.(c) When installed in domestic, commercial or industrial buildings.The installation of pliable building membranes in air-handling ducts and under concrete slabs are outside the scope of this Standard.NOTES:1 Thermal insulation requirements are specified in AS 2627.2 This Standard will be referenced in the Building Code of Australia by way of BCA Amendment 7 intended for publication in October 1994, thereby superseding the previous editions of AS 1736 - 1975 and AS 1904 - 1976, which will be withdrawn 12 months from the date of publication of this Standard.Users are advised that when BCA Amendment 7 is issued, it will not necessarily be gazetted in each State/Territory at the time of printing
