AS/NZS 60335.2.28:2022 deals with the safety of electric sewing machines for household and similar use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances, including direct current (DC) supplied appliances and battery-operated appliances. Overlock machines and electrical sets are within the scope of this standard.

This Standard will supersede AS/NZS 60335.2.28:2006 three years from the date of publication (i.e. on 25 November 2025). During this period AS/NZS 60335.2.28:2006 will also remain current. Regulatory authorities that reference this Standard in regulation may apply these requirements at a different time. Users of this Standard should consult with these authorities to confirm their requirements.
