This Standard deals with the safety of fixed electric immersion heaters for household and similar purposes that are intended for installation in a water tank for heating water to a temperature below its boiling point. The rated voltage is not more than 250 volt for single-phase appliances and 480 volt for other appliances.
This Standard will supersede AS/NZS 3350.2.73:1996 seven years from the date of publication (i.e. on 27 June 2012). During this seven year period either AS/NZS 3350.2.73:1996 or AS/NZS 60335.2.73:2005 may be used for regulatory purposes in both Australia and New Zealand.
