Gives a titrimetric method for determining esterified acid content in binders for paints and varnishes whereby free acids and acid anhydrides are necessarily included. Of limited applicability. Not applicable to those materials which show further reaction with alkalis beyond normal saponification. Covers references, definitions, sampling, reagents, apparatus, preliminary test, procedure and expression of results.
