Specifies the requirements for the validation of metal temperature in batch and continuous furnaces in the heat treatment of steels for pressure purposes. Outlines the limits for permitted metal variation during heat treatment. Includes requirements for validation records, and the requirements for calibration of furnace instrumentation. Applies to steels for pressure purposes and heat treated on a small scale. Does not apply to the heat treatment of fabrications, nor to intermediate heat treatment processes that do not affect the material or the final properties. Also includes detailed tables and diagrams.
