Trockenmittel nach diesen TL werden in Trockenpatronen und Trockenkapseln eingesetzt bzw. dienen zu deren Nachfüllung, soweit dies die jeweilige Bauart zulässt. Sie werden den weitestgehend wasserdampfdicht ausgeführten Packungen und Geräten beigegeben, um durch Feuchteentzug während des Transports, der Lagerung und im Betrieb Korrosion, Oxidation und Bildung von Mikroorganismen (Schimmel) zu vermeiden.
