FASC 3238 R La norma definisce le classi di condizioni microclimatiche, cui i componenti (parti basilari, assiemi, unità incassate) possono essere esposti all'interno dei prodotti, che vengono utilizzati nelle condizioni climatiche classificate nelle pubblicazioni IEC 721-3-3 (Norma CEI 75-9 seconda ed.) e 721-3-4 (75-10 prima ed.). I parametri caratteristici per i microclimi sono l'alta temperatura e la forte umidità relativa dell'aria. Altri parametri relativi alle classi climatiche, per es. la bassa temperatura, possono ulteriormente influenzare i componenti, ma qui non sono stati presi in considerazione.
