This standard describes the method that serves to test lubricating oils containing type P additives (as in DIN 51502), also known internationally as EP lubricating oils, under the conditions of a relative linear oscillatory motion. It compares the influence of different lubricating oils on a ball/disc tribological system using a linear-oscillation test machine. In practice the applicability of test results should be assessed from case to case.
