The method is used for determining the viscosity ratio (relative viscosity) and the viscosity number of cellulose acetate in a dilute solution containing a mixture of methylene chloride and methanol as the solvent. It is applicable to cellulose acetate containing not less than 50% by wt. of acetic acid. If the cellulose acetate to be tested contains plastiziers, fillers or other additives which affect the viscosity measurement, special test methods shall be agreed.
