The methods (Method A and Method B) serve to determine the acetic acid yield of non-plasticized cellulose acetate. The acetic acid yield is determined as that quantity of acetic acid, in g per 100 g of dry cellulose acetate, corresponding to the quantity of sodium hydroxide necessary for the complete saponification of the cellulose acetate. The error limit of the methods is +0.2% by wt. of the mean value obtained.
