Diese Norm beschreibt Verfahren zum Bestimmen der Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen Rissbildung einer organischen Beschichtung auf einem metallischen Substrat, wenn dieses um 135 degree bis 180 degree gebogen wird. Die Haftfestigkeit kann ebenfalls bewertet werden. Es werden sowohl Faltverfahren als auch Dornbiegeverfahren berücksichtigt. Das Faltverfahren wird häufiger für praktische Zwecke verwendet. Wenn jedoch genauere Bestimmungen gefordert werden, wird das Dornbiegeverfahren empfohlen. Dieses Verfahren mit zylindrischem Dorn kann auch für eine ja/nein-Entscheidung angewendet werden, indem ein vereinbarter Dorn verwendet wird. Die Wahl des geeigneten Prüfverfahrens wird durch die Dicke und/oder die Härte des Substrates eingeschränkt.
