Diese Europäische Norm legt Prüfverfahren und Anforderungen an das Betriebsverhalten für atemalkoholgesteuerte Alkohol-Interlocks fest. Sie behandelt Alkohol-Interlocks, die hauptsächlich für den Einsatz in Verkehrssicherheits-Programmen für Trunkenheitsfahrer vorgesehen sind. Diese Europäische Norm richtet sich hauptsächlich an Prüflaboratorien und Hersteller von Alkohol-Interlocks. Einzelne Parameter (wie zum Beispiel Alkoholkonzentration oder Atemvolumen) sind in dieser Europäischen Norm nur für den Zweck der Baumusterprüfung nach dieser Norm festgelegt.
