Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM legt ein Standardverfahren für die Erfassung zweidimensionaler Lichtwellenleiter-Nahfeld-Grauskalendaten und die nachfolgende Reduzierung in eindimensionale Daten dar, die als eine Menge von drei abgetasteten Parameterfunktionen des Radius um den optischen Mittelpunkt der Faser ausgedrückt werden. Diese Norm dient der Verringerung von Messfehlern und Schwankungen zwischen den Laboren und damit der Unterstützung der genauen mathematischen Vorausberechnung der kleinsten garantierten Verbindungslänge in Lichtwellenleiter-Kommunikationssystemen für ein Gigabit und zehn Gigabit.
