Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM EN gibt Anleitung zum Festlegen eines Rahmens für Obsoleszenzmanagement und zur Planung eines kostenwirksamen Obsoleszenzmanagementprozesses, der durch alle Phasen des Produktlebenszyklus anwendbar ist. Die Benennung "Produkt" umfasst hier - Anlagegüter, - Infrastruktur, - langlebige Gebrauchsgüter, - Verbrauchsmaterial, - Softwareprodukte. Obsoleszenzmanagement umfasst die folgenden Gebiete: a) Entwicklung neuer Produkte; b) Einführung neuer Technologien bei bestehenden Produkten; c) Unterstützung und Instandhaltung des Gerätebestandes.
