Purpose of this NATO standardization recommendation is to summarises and reviews the important technical concepts of IFF Mk XIIA Mode 5 Level 1 and Level 2. It presents implementation options and guidance for integrating Mode 5 onto different types of NATO military platforms. The document is intended for system designers, project managers and program managers tasked with implementing Mode 5.
