How to Search for Standards on Intertek Inform

Intertek Inform provides access to one of the largest collections of industry Standards, regulations, and technical documents. Whether you’re starting a new project or ensuring compliance, finding the right Standard quickly is essential.

  1. Search Bar (Quick Search)
    • Enter a Standard’s designation or number (e.g., AS/NZS 3000).
    • Or search by keyword (e.g., electrical safety).
    • Best for fast lookups when you already know what you’re looking for.
  2. Advanced Search (Filtered Results)
    • Refine your search with filters such as publisher, industry, region, or status.
    • Ideal when you need more precise or technical results.
  3. Explore Standards by Industry
    • Browse Standards grouped by predefined industries.
    • Perfect for discovery if you’re entering a new field or don’t have a specific title in mind.

Every Standard in Intertek Inform is assigned a status. Knowing what each status means helps ensure you select the most accurate and legally compliant version.

  • Current: The latest, up-to-date edition. Use this for new projects and compliance requirements.
  • Pending Revision: Under review. If no update is approved within 12 months, it may be withdrawn.
  • Available Superseded: Replaced by a newer Standard but still available, often because it is referenced in legislation. Use with caution.
  • Superseded: Fully replaced by a newer edition of the same Standard.
  • Withdrawn: Removed from sale and no longer valid. May or may not be replaced.
  • Lapsed: Past its review period and unlikely to proceed further.
  • Obsolescent: Not recommended for current projects but may be needed for maintaining legacy equipment.
  • Redesignated: The Standard’s number has been changed (main, part, or sub-part).
  • Terminated: Not superseded, but the project or product has been discontinued.

When you click on a Standard in your search results, you’ll be taken to the Product Details page. This page includes:

  • A detailed description of the publication.
  • The status of the Standard, with an explanation of its meaning.
  • A preview of limited pages (depending on the publisher).
  • Additional product details available via expandable sections.

Imagine you’re starting a new construction project and need the most up-to-date safety requirements.
